Contract for Service
Family Care Homes
JHSNI Family Caregivers provide safe and supportive homes to young people in our Headstart, Oasis, 180 Degrees Detox and Stabilization and Youth Justice Community Beds programs. Family caregivers are integral to the success of our community-based programming.
Becoming a family caregiver gives you an opportunity to make
a difference while working from home. As
a family caregiver with JHSNI, you will be an independent contractor, not an
employee. Monthly compensation is paid
to you that includes a fee for service as well as funds you will need to spend
on food, clothing, transportation, recreation, and the other costs associated
with providing for a youth’s day-to-day needs.
We will provide you with 24-hour on-call support, ongoing training, and
monthly respite. You will need to
familiarize yourself with being a contractor and, in particular, we will ask
you to obtain independent advice regarding taxation. The following BC Foster Parents website may
provide additional information: http://bcfosterparents.ca/income-tax-information/.
Caregivers provide encouragement and supervision to youth placed in their homes. The emphasis is on building positive relationships and fostering a nurturing family environment. We have openings for family caregivers in Campbell River and the Comox Valley.
